New Make & Take Projects

I am loving the New Kaszazz Catalogue…I’m also loving all the new Workshops and Projects for the FREE Make & Takes that have been created by some of the very talented Consultants across Australia.

Today I’m planning on featuring the New Make & Take Projects with you. These are the FREE Projects we do at Markets, Festivals, Events and for our own Open Houses. These are a great way for people to come along and discover they CAN craft. 🙂

Celebrating 50 Years

I’d like to introduce you to my Great Grandparents on my Gran’s Side of the Family Tree. The photo in today’s Page was taken on their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1956.

I wasn’t too sure how I wanted to do a Page up for this Photo…I knew I wanted to do something ‘fresh’ and stay away from the more ‘heritage’ colour SB Papers. Looking at the finished Page, I’m quite chuffed.

The Layout itself was inspired by a search on Pinterest (as so many wonderful projects often are) and I feel bring out the ‘country’ feel of the SB Heartfelt Papers Kaszazz released late last year…wow that’s gone quick! Some have been Embossed with the Butterfly Embossing Folder and then touched up with the Ink Blending Foam and Aquamarine Archival Ink Pad, which I’ve blended into the edges of a number of the strips of Paper & Card. 

Still have a few journal notes to add before I’m ready to put this Page into the Album and say it’s done. I’ll just have to wait for my weekly chat with Gran to get some dirt…or not…on her parents.

Techie Tuesday ~ How To Emboss with Dies

It’s Techie Tuesday again….I love this time of the week, I really do. I did promise in the Holly Background Post that I would share with you How To create these stunning backgrounds yourself and this is it! 😀

 

First up, I’ll admit I did some Prep Work the night before by spritzing my Cards with a mix of Perfect Pearls and Water. I wanted a more ‘shimmery’ look for this Post. Mission accomplished. Without further ado, let’s craft!!

Perfect Pearls Spritzed over for a shimmery effect.

**Warning; this is a very photo heavy Post, so please bear with me if it’s taking longer to load than usual. There’s way too much background noise around the neighbourhood to do a video this time.**

• Trim your Cardstock to a little larger than the size you require for your Card. All shall be revealed very shortly. You’ll want to trim an extra piece of Card (I’ve used White Cardstock) and attach with Glossy Accents or Super Tape so you have a thicker base.
  

  
• Select the Dies you wish to use for your Background. This time I’ve chosen the two smaller Stars from the Stars Die Set by Kaszazz. Crank your Stack through your preferred Die Cutting & Embossing Machine. For my Ezy Press it’s the Pink Base Plate with the Blue Cutting Plate. * I know these Dies love to cut through, which is what I’m attempting to avoid; to aid in preventing this I’ve used a scrap of SB Paper over the top.
  

  
• Don’t panic if your Dies are cutting through your Card Stack; we’ll fix that up very shortly and no one will be able to tell this has happened. Trust me…I asked The Man if he could see anything amiss with all 3 Cards I’ve created with this Technique, and he didn’t believe me that something was…until I showed him some photos. 😉 Move your Dies to another position on  your Card and Repeat the Previous Step until you’re happy with the coverage and positions.
• Now to reattach your Jigsaw pieces (the pieces that cut through). I’ve used Glossy Accents as I’m attaching Card to Card. I also wanted to ensure my pieces were going to remain where they should be. Be generous, side spillage is fine as we’re trimming edges down before too long. 😉 Attach your ‘Backing Base’ Card and smooth out for an even cover.
  

  

  
• Once you’re confident your glue has dried, flip your design so the back is facing you and trim your edges to fit your chosen size Card. This is the easiest way to trim the edges without ‘gathering’ any bits of Card along the way. It’s taken a few attempts for me to work out this step. Worth every attempt. Trim off any stragglers with your scissors for a neater appearance.
• Now the fun part….DECORATE!!! I’ve added some Silver Edged Ribbon to the first Card as I wanted a more simple look. For the Card I made for this Post, I wanted to have a little more fun. I’ve Ink Blended the edges with Aquamarine Archival Ink (helps to hide any little straggly bits that escaped the scissors!) as well as Ink Blended the edges of my SB Paper Stars prior to using Magic Mount Foam to place them over the matching Stars. Because of the extra dimension I decided to use Super Tape to attach the Backing to the Card Base. The choice is always yours where this is concerned.
  

  

  

  

I’ve had a blast making these Cards. For my second one I’ve done some Heat Embossing on Vellum for my sentiment; the Shooting Star in Silver and Clear Embossing Powder over my Aquamarine Archival sentiment. Just for something a little fancy. I was considering adding a rhinestone brad, mine all have aged brass for the edge which just wouldn’t work this time, so I Heat Embossed that as well in the Silver. It wasn’t until I was moving everything around that I decided that’s a bit OTT, thankfully!!! But it can be done in case you were wondering.

I’m already planning some Cards using the New Leaf Die Kaszazz released with the New Catalogue over the weekend. I think that Die, and either of the New Flourish Dies (Small & Large) would look amazing as a Background done in this Technique. I’ll have to order them and find out with some trial and error….now do I tell The Man I’m in urgent need of supplies or do I wait till my supplies are actually diminished? Oooh, I’ll behave and wait, it’ll be worth it. 😀

NEW CATALOGUE IS HERE!!

It’s been a HUGE weekend in the Kaszazz World…Team Training Days (TTD) on both Saturday & Sunday depending on where you live, New Products released as happens at every TTD and the NEW 2016-2017 Catalogue was released!!

I’ve had a quick look through an online version and I have to admit I’m super dooper impressed with all the new products…so on trend with many of them. I’m also impressed with the price changes; I’m pretty sure the Dies have all dropped in price!! 😀

Now it’s time to stash away my Stamps that are retiring to Tahiti, that’s today’s first task; I’ll need to go through and work out which Workshops are no longer current and file them elsewhere on the computer. I enjoy having the Retired Workshops to refer to down the track, and this way I’ve also got a copy of the Instructions. 🙂

Do you do that with older Workshops/Classes? File them away so you’ve got them for rainy days?

Over the next week or two I’ll be sharing plenty of the Catalogue items and the new Workshops as they come to light. It’s soooo exciting!!!

Holly Background

While I was skimming through YouTube last weekend I stumbled across a Tutorial showing different uses for Nesting Dies which intrigued me just a little.

So this week I made it my mission to ‘attempt’ a few of the Techniques that were shared. And I’ve got to say, I’m impressed.

Today I’m sharing with you a different Christmas Card using my Holly Die as the Background.

I’ll share the Technique with you on the next Techie Tuesday. It’s certainly easier than I thought. It also opens up a world of possibilities for all the Dies that are in my Collection.

The Week that Was

Wow, Friday already! Where on earth did this week go? Actually, where did July go? I’m sure I didn’t sleep through a few days on end anywhere in there…would’ve loved to, but pretty confident I didn’t.

How was your week? Did you tick everything off your To Do List that you’d planned, or did Life throw you a curveball along the way?

I planned on having a lot more done this week, I just can’t seem to figure out what happened to throw that all in the air. Oh well, onward and upward. 🙂 No use crying over spilt milk….do cry over spilt Glossy Accents! Not that I’ve spilt any…or cried over it yet.

I have managed to make up some more Samples this week, setting aside all the Cards at least for the Online Market I’m hosting on Wednesday night (Aussie Time) and arranged a revolving door Event for friends to join in making Christmas Cards for our Troops to send home to their loved ones this Festive Season. So I’ve managed to pop a few ticks on that To Do List…I just can’t seem to shake the feeling it just doesn’t feel enough.

“3 Star Guy” Card

What a gorgeous start to the week it’s been so far. 🙂 I’m quite happy to be plowing through the Father’s Day Cards I need for the Markets, and really happy with the variety I’ve created thus far. This has got to be one of my favourites, the 3 Star Guy card, coz every guy should be treated like a 3 Star VIP in my opinion. Well, let’s be honest, we all should be treated like a 3 Star VIP shouldn’t we.

There’s a few things you will need to make this Card yourself, but it is super easy and quick! I love quick projects, especially if I can make them while I’m cooking dinner or waiting for the kettle to boil for  a cuppa. And if this disorganised clutz can do it, rest assured you’ll be more than able to as well.

 

Follow these simple Instructions to make your own 3 Star Guy card.

You’ll need;

• Kaszazz SB Essentials 12×12 Card; I’ve used both Butter and Chocolate Card in my Samples, cut to measure 21cm x 15cm. Score at 10½cms, fold & burnish for a crisp fold line.
• Kaszazz SB Ebony & Ivory Spots/Definitions 12×12 Paper. Cut to measure 14.7cm x 5cm. You can make it 15cm even so it sits flush with the Card edge if you prefer.
• Ezy Press Die-cut & Embossing Machine (or similar machine if you have one)
• Star shape Dies. I’ve used the smallest Star from the Star Die Set by Kaszazz.
• Stamps or the Father definition from the SB Paper.
• Small piece of Card to mount your Sentiment on
• Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pad
• Ink Blending Tool and Replacement Foam
• Ruler
• Paper Trimmer
• 3mm & 6mm Super Tape
• 1cm of Magic Mount Foam Tape
• Glossy Accents

How To;

• Place your Ebony & Ivory SB Paper on your Die-Cut plate. For the Ezy Press you’ll require the Pink & Blue Plates for this project. Ensure your Shape Die is in the correct position to cut through your SB Paper. I’ve used the smallest Star Die from the Stars Thick Paper Cutting Die Set. Crank through your Machine. Reposition your chosen Shape and repeat till you have 3 Die-cut Shapes for your Card.
• Using your Super Tape, attach your Die-cut Panel on the Right hand edge of your Card Front. I use the 3mm on the areas where the Star is close to the edge and 6mm for the remaining sides.
• Using a small drip or two of Glossy Accents attach two of your Die-cut Shapes to the Left hand side of your Card. I usually do these two Stars showing the same design as my Panel opposite.
• Using the Magic Mount on the back of your third Star, attach so your Star/Shape is sitting in the middle of your Card, slightly overlapping the middle join. Be mindful of not covering up any of your Die-cut shapes.
• If you’re using one of the phrases from the Definitions on the SB Paper, trim to size with your Paper Trimmer. For Stamping, trim your spare Card to fit your Stamped Sentiment. This should be no wider than 10cm otherwise it will hang off your Card. Stamp your Sentiment with Vintage Photo Distress Ink Pad.
• Use Super Tape to attach your Sentiment or Phrase to the front of your Card, carefully avoiding any of the other Stars.
• Fini!

Super easy right? If you’d like to make this Card up for a child or for a lady, simply swap around which colours you use for both your SB Essentials 12×12 Card and/or SB 12×12 Paper.

Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star

A quick and easy Card to kick off this week me thinks. I’m still in recovery mode after a rather enjoyable weekend and having just wrapped up another video tutorial so, quick and easy is working for me. 😉

You may remember me saying a few weeks ago now (mind you the way this year is flying, it could’ve been months ago!) how I was browsing through Pinterest in search of some Christmas Card inspiration? Over the weekend I did manage to wrangle a few odds and ends together to recreate one of them, as well as a slight variation of the same card. Once I saw the new Metallic Tapes Kaszazz released only a few weeks ago, I knew I had to make this Card up.

The Inspiration via Pinterest

Very simple, very quick and rather fun all rolled into one. Start with your Basic Cardstock and score at 10½cms to create your fold. Burnish for the crisp edge we all love. Trim another piece of Basic Cardstock so it measures 14.7cm x 9.7cm. Now you can choose to either Die-cut the Top Layer of Cardstock so you’re looking down onto your Star, or you can leave it and mount your Star on top of your Top Layer for some added dimension. (and that’s the variation right there)

I’ve used some of our awesome Magic Mount Double Sided Foam Tape to mount my Silver Glitter Star and the Top Layer on the Gold Star Card. I’ve also used the Rouge Alcohol Ink Art Marker to colour my 1/8″ Organza Ribbon for my Silver Star Card before trimming and building a small bow. The ribbon is attached on both with 3mm Super Tape and a little spot of Glossy Accents to hold the bows in place just above my Stars.

Super easy and simple right? One point, when stamping the Sentiment (I’ve used Merry Christmas from the Winter Wonderland Mini Messages Set) Stamp BEFORE attaching the Magic Mount to the back of your Top Layer!!! Just makes it a world easier trust me. 😉 Coffee hadn’t quite kicked in by that stage of yesterday morning I’m thinking.

5 Days of Pink

Four down, one to go but thankfully knowing how crazy this week was going to be (it’s lived up to it!) I actually made all my Pink Cards up on Monday for the 5 Day Card Challenge on Facebook. 🙂

Yep, butterflies feature heavily on these Cards…everyone in The Clan is not in the least bit surprised either….oooh butterfly. 😉

It’s been great to see so many unique ideas coming through on the Group for Pink Cards, though there are a lot focusing on New Baby, which is a little boring for me. Not that I don’t enjoy Baby Cards, but it’s ‘safe’ in a way. Or am I being too pedantic yet again?

These have all been a heap of fun to make up, and I love them all for different reasons. I’ve used some of the Moment by Moment Card Decks for most of these, used my own Card Map Design for one (YAY me!!) and even did a YouTube tutorial for one of the backgrounds! Wow, it has been a crazy week!! Is this what the World is in for when I get a few nights good sleeping in? 😀 😀

Winter Wonderland

I’ve got to admit, the latest Winter Wonderland Release by Kaszazz has certainly got me hooked. I’m super impressed with the versatility of the Stamps in the Collection; great for Christmas Cards & Scrap Pages though the possibilities beyond Christmas have my mind in a spin. This is the first time I’ve ordered an entire Collection in one Bundle, and I’m super glad I did with this one.

The new Holly Standard Die is WOW. Yes, I’m biased, I’ll admit it. Take that out of the equation though and it is a Die worth getting excited about. The Man is impressed with it, and certainly how I can change the way I use it. Now to impress The Man with any of my Crafting Toys is quite a challenge in and of itself. He normally smiles, nods his head and makes the appropriate sounds for the most part. He’s very supportive, but it’s not a bleep on his interest radar more often than not. This Die though has bleeped! 🙂 And I’ve only had 3 plays with it so far! Talk about promising.

As my Delivery Dude was running rather late yesterday, and considering how much my Naughty Knees decided to make themselves known, I didn’t finish putting all my Stamps together and stored away; certainly didn’t have a chance to look at the gorgeous Papers before calling it a day. Which has surprised my Mum as she was certain I’d be straight into the Papers and the new Glitter Tapes. Actually I still haven’t looked at the Papers this morning, nor played with my new Glitter Tapes! Eeeek….Blog first, Play second. 🙂

From the Play Time I have had this morning I’m super impressed. I was meant to be focusing on making up my Samples right about now, instead I’m dribbling on like a lunatic to you about this awesome Collection!!
